The price we listed in the first post was on the low end for what’s actually needed. And I will try good working water proof laptops for 1250 euro. As for the tourniquets: yes, the price of €50 was higher than average, but I based it on guidance from military medics. We later agreed in the comments that €37.50 was a better reference. Still, the real issue we face isn’t just price—it’s the flood of fake or non-approved tourniquets, which is a serious risk. From the €800 raised, we purchased 20 genuine CAT7s via a trusted medical team that works and lives on zero, That same team also urgently needed a €1500 drone for safer evacuations under artillery threat, which was included in the overall mission cost. He disclosed to me in confidence why he needed that particular server part configuration and what it was for. I went through my entire list of second-hand IT suppliers and wasn't able to reach a price -- even without shipping -- than his fundraising target. While I may have made some different selections in configuring it, it wouldn't have saved much and would result in my second guessing someone with much better knowledge of the immediate subject matter. While I am mindful that there are plenty of grifters and conmen taking advantage of this conflict to enrich themselves, I do not have any reason to believe that Ed is one of them. By all accounts, he's a selfless volunteer; he doesn't need to be there; he doesn't need to risk getting hit by a stray artillery shell or an opportunistic drone. He could leave at any time yet chooses to not do so. The difficulty of getting donated and purchased materials to the vicinity of the frontline is well established. Nope. Lets draw a comparison. The Abrams sent by the US were export versions of the M1A1. The M1A1 in its American config. is already in very limited service within the US as a training tool and in select reserve units. The config. of the M1A1 given to Ukraine was never meant for US service and had they been used by the US post 1991 or so, there would be a massive investigation. Ukraine got what is essentially a variant of an already retired tank that wouldn't ever meet the bar to enter US service.
The Challengers and Leopards sent to Ukraine have been the real deal.

Ukraine received frome EU for example Leopards, F-16s, Mig29s, Panzerhaubitzes, Krabs, Archers, Zuzanas, Grot and Bren rifles, Nlaws, AMXs. I would not called it older weapons. I understand your point and I saw your post about the fake tourniquets and heard the stories. I totally agree that lives depend on the equipment. But what I suggested is MIL-STD-810G certified (says on their product page) which is the same rating as the Toughbook FZ-55 otherwise I wouldn't have bothered suggesting it.
But 100% message received, now is not the time to cheap out on anything. Like I said, trying to suggest alternatives and be helpful in the areas I can.

I do not think it is okay to make a sarcastic post saying that other NGOs are doing something wrong in order to get people to donate to you instead of other people. I think that’s unethical and extremely disrespectful to do to other people who are doing the same work you are doing.
Everyone fundraising in this subreddit is doing excellent things to help Ukraine. This is the first and only time I’ve ever thought that someone else was harming other people helping.

A few days ago you said tourniquets cost $50 when they do not. You said other groups were providing you bad tourniquets but refused to say who was doing that.

Yeah, that has nothing to do with their effectiveness and has everything to do with corruption in order to favor Sich TQ's. They are the only two domestically produced tourniquets worth a damn and I would absolutely trust my life to either.
If the option is a Dnipro or nothing, you're killing men if you dissuade them from Dnipro's. If you take a Dnipro from them and they don't have enough for 4 for themselves, you're killing men for nothing.
If, IF you have enough to replace what they have and get to that magic number of 4 per person, fine, take them, as that may be the thing the Ukrainian government tries to use to screw them/their family out of appropriate benefits. But never take them before those prerequisites are met.

Interesting. In my service time in the Specialized Infantry in Germany we got taught the explosive charge of the Handgrenade without shrapnel is still lethal in a 5m Radius, especially in MOUT/CQB situations but never got to use them like this myself lol

I work with NGOs and it's always like pulling teeth, or herding cats. The problem is that the bean counters at NGOs you get the cheap stuff from are the ones who are making the procurement decisions. I think it's a great idea that you are fundraising directly, but if at the end of the day the people who make the poor buying choices need to be educated, it may be well worth your time, if you can spare it, to make the effort. Fair enough, I've no real world experience with the Dinpro Gen 2 but I do have one in my hand right now and they seem extremely well made on the face of it at least, I'm going to test this thing to descruction now though and compare it to our issued CAT7.

Nobody is disagreeing with this. You deserve the best there is. What we're objecting against is what seems to be an excessive price for what you require - the implication is that someone - the manufacturers, the middlemen, someone - is exploiting the need for good tourniquets and is grifting for profit instead of driving down the price precisely to save lives.

I think website wise, just add as much information as possible about how to verify your activities and who/what organizations back you / have screened you for potential fraud. Or perhaps social or official media to the individual units you support who also might mention/thank you. We just want to make sure the funds aren't going to fraudsters or worse - Russians.

In ww2 my grandmother Rita had a cat who warned Rita her mother about the German bombers before the sirens even sounded; so they could hide in the cellar in time. But aged 15, Rita only hid sometimes, as often she had to deliver messages between posts on her bicycle while the bombs were falling around her.. My brave grandmother her cat survived ww2 of course. There are multiple CCP's, evac teams, and casualty transportation groups that are specifically English speaking. Personally, I'm a (predominantly) English speaking combat medic with a well established unit. It just depends and saying "you have to know X to do Y here" is not necessarily accurate. It absolutely helps, but it isn't an automatic disqualifier. Particularly in OP's case where their knowledge and experience are FAR more valuable.

The information you're sharing isn't entirely wrong, but it also isn't correct or representative of the full picture.
If this person wanted to integrate into a Ukrainian combat unit or entirely Ukrainian/russian speaking evac team? Yeah, sure, know one of the languages.
Considering that isn't what they're looking for suited for, there are other options that we should be discussing where language isn't an issue. Of which, there are many.
You aren't in the medical field. You aren't representative of more than a single and very specific circumstance. You don't know what you're talking about in this regard.

Not sure if you've worked in critical combat care but that's why training is so standardized. As a trauma certified nurse I can work at any trauma center after a day of orientation. When a gunshot victim rolls in, most of it is automatic and follows a standardized algorithm. I can't imagine critical combat care in any country would differ much, a gunshot in Australia is treated just like a gunshot in France.
I doubt very much that this idea that people come and go in shorter periods would be more inconvenient. Any floor manager (hospital or otherwise) knows how to staff things so there would always be someone working that shift and have a backup. It wouldn't be difficulty to verify training credentials. It takes months to trust a trauma nurse can do the job?
I also think the language barrier in critical care is a lot smaller than you might believe. How many actual medical terms need to be learned? Not many, in critical care there is no need to know all medical terms. Blood pressure, bandage, arm, pick up, IV, etc. No need to memorize the words for kidney disease or high cholesterol. It's not that difficult. I learned medical Spanish for my job in less than a month of study and practice.

The bigger thing is, when you ask all the “professionals” at zero they say 40 to 75 euros a piece, there are more tourniquets than the cat gen7 there are even faster ones. They cost 125 euros a piece and are way faster to apply..
But okay our field medics choose for cat7 anyways because everyone can use them. And they ordered them by themselves so no hands touch them before their hands. Even on zero we have not honest people sadly that will swap for fake
This is a big problem, also in a safe city like ternopil last year there where many needles casualties. Because of fake tourniquets or low quality ones.
We are happy that there is finally a list of approved tourniquets.. that’s it

Because you can’t fight a modern war with equipment the West threw out years ago.
We’re living in 2025.
Fibre optics? Invented in the 1970s.
4K? A household standard since 2012.
And yet, on the front line we’re still working with equipment that Western countries discarded years ago.
This is a modern war: drones, missiles, electronic warfare, AI systems, live coordination.
What’s missing? The tools to actually fight it.
I work with drone teams, command centres, medical evacuation units and reconnaissance groups. We don’t have time for meetings or procurement bureaucracy.
What we need is simple: modern hardware — functional, field-proof, and reliable.

I work with full transparency as a volunteer at the frontline in southwest Donetsk—under fire, under pressure, and with extreme shortages. This is one of the most intense regions of the war. And yes, modern warfare is expensive. High-quality IT and medical gear costs money—there’s no way around that.
Also, to clarify: I didn’t ask you personally for money. I asked whether your organization, with its donor base, could consider helping supply the tourniquets that our medics specifically requested. First of all, it’s been a very hard day, but I want to take a moment to respond calmly.
The thank-you videos in my last post were all personally sent to me—either by the soldiers who received the gear and food, or by Anastasia, a local volunteer I support in delivering humanitarian aid. I would never use someone else’s content without permission.
About the laptops: the request came from a frontline unit working in extremely rough conditions—mud, sand, wind, rain. They needed rugged, high-performance laptops (i7, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, high-resolution screens, Windows 11 Pro). Prices for reliable refurbished models start around €1250, and new ones can go up to €3500. So the figure we gave was actually on the low side for what’s required.
As for the tourniquets: the €50 estimate came from frontline medics, but after discussion (including in the comments), we agreed that €37.50 was more realistic. I admit that price was high, but the bigger problem isn’t the cost—it’s the constant flow of fake or non-approved tourniquets, which puts lives at risk. With the €800 we received, we bought 20 genuine CAT7s via a trusted medical team. That same team also urgently needed a €1500 drone for safer evacuations, which we supported.
I’m fairly new to making public posts and running fundraisers. I don’t have a communications team—just a small group doing what we can under tough conditions. I only wish we had more hands to help. But everything I post is based on real needs from real people in danger.
If something came across the wrong way, I’d genuinely like the chance to understand and improve. I always work in good faith and with full transparency.

Let me clarify this once and for all.
I never claimed that a CAT tourniquet costs €50 I spoke about tourniquets on the approved list, The €450 model I shared is a SAM Junctional Tourniquet—a very different and highly specialized tool used for pelvic and junctional hemorrhages. It’s on the approved list and used by some of the medics I support directly in the field.
My earlier reference of around €50 was for high-quality, combat-tested tourniquets—based on input from Zero Line specialists who use them daily under real combat conditions. That estimate wasn’t random, and I clearly explained the context and the difference between models.
So please stop suggesting I’m spreading misinformation. I haven’t. I’ve done nothing but respond clearly and in good faith to concerns you raised publicly.
And yes—there is massive need for aid across the three regions I operate in here in the southeast. As you already know, it’s one of the hardest and most brutal zones in the entire war right now. So please just get us help.

I’m honestly not sure what’s going on. There seems to be concern about the price we listed for tourniquets. We used $50 as an average based on what the soldiers at Zero told us. In the comments, everyone seemed to agree that €37.50 would be a more accurate mid-range price. I even know a few people who paid €75 for a single CAT7.
Today, another verified fundraiser openly attacked my main fundraiser and tried to discredit it. That’s not something you normally do to fellow verified users.
On top of that, someone pointed out a patch worn by one of the soldiers in a video—a skull with crossed bones. He uses it as a pirate symbol, but others interpreted it as something Nazi-related. I know this man personally, and I can say with full confidence that he is not a Nazi and wouldn’t wear anything with that intent.

As for the prices I’ve listed, they are as low as they realistically get for the quality and specifications needed in the field.
Anyway, this is my response to everything.
Dear moderators,
You opened this discussion by accusing me of inflating the price of tourniquets. The price I mentioned—€50—was based on what military medics at the Zero Line actually pay in the field. Keep in mind: the nearest major city is over two hours away. Prices here, for everything from food to gear, are 2–3 times higher than in central logistics hubs. That’s the reality on the ground.
We later adjusted the public fundraising price to €37.50 after open discussion, and that is also the price we paid. But the core issue in that post wasn’t the price—it was the flood of fake, unapproved, and imitation tourniquets we keep receiving, even from so-called “official” foundations, including some that have posted in your group. I’ve received faulty tourniquets from at least three Dutch organizations and several international ones. Many of them seem to think “anything is better than nothing.” On the front line, that kind of thinking costs lives.
You then claimed that my thank-you video used other people’s content. That’s a false accusation. Every photo and video in that post came from people I personally worked with. Anastasia, who you refused to hear out, tried to clarify this—those kids in the photos received direct aid funded by us. She and her husband rely on the money I send them to do this work. This accusation damaged my name without basis.
Regarding the laptops: as I’ve explained several times, rugged, field-ready laptops cost anywhere between €1,250 and €3,500. I specifically requested funds for the lower end of that range—€1,250 per unit. That is not misleading. These laptops must support Windows 11 Pro, because Windows 10 will be unsupported by Microsoft from October 2025. Of course I look for used models, but they must be reliable, durable, and up-to-date. Otherwise, they’re useless in the field.
You referred to another verified user—r/tatalitlebit—who publicly undermined my post. She collects old secondhand laptops, which may be useful for some purposes, but I can tell you plainly: 90% of that hardware is not usable for actual frontline work. She publicly discredited my post without understanding what’s actually needed at Zero, and you allowed that narrative to take over—without asking me for a proper reply.
I work only with frontline teams. I know what’s needed, and I do everything I can to source gear at the best possible prices. For reference: • 65” and 75” 4K active touchscreens: €125 each • Rugged laptops: €1,250 to €3,500 • Servers: €4,350, which was confirmed as the best offer by r/Mr_engineering • 3D printers: sourced below market value via family contacts in the industry
These are real savings, achieved through real work—not misleading figures.
You’ve now painted me publicly as “untrustworthy,” before even giving me a chance to respond properly. That alone explains the tone of the reactions you referenced. Hi moderators,
First of all, I’ve had a very hard day, and I’d like to respond calmly and clearly.
The thank-you videos in my latest post were all personally sent to me—either by the units who received gear or food, or by Anastasia, a trusted volunteer I work with who helps distribute humanitarian aid. I did not use anyone else’s content. The mother holding up the sweater is the mother of Veronica alias “Victoria” where a lot of people from r/ukraine contributed to.
Regarding the laptops: we specifically asked for rugged, high-performance machines—i7, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, high-resolution screens, and Windows 11 Pro. These are used in frontline environments: mud, sand, rain, wind. Prices for quality refurbished units start around €1250, and new models go up to €3500. The price we listed in the first post was on the low end for what’s actually needed. And I will try good working water proof laptops for 1250 euro.
As for the tourniquets: yes, the price of €50 was higher than average, but I based it on guidance from military medics. We later agreed in the comments that €37.50 was a better reference. Still, the real issue we face isn’t just price—it’s the flood of fake or non-approved tourniquets, which is a serious risk. From the €800 raised, we purchased 20 genuine CAT7s via a trusted medical team that works and lives on zero, That same team also urgently needed a €1500 drone for safer evacuations under artillery threat, which was included in the overall mission cost.
I always work directly with units who ask for help, and I act in good faith. I’m open about where the money goes and try to be as transparent as possible. If there’s something specific that concerns you, I would really appreciate the chance to clear it up.
I care deeply about this mission and those I support. I hope we can resolve this constructively.

Regarding suitable laptops for the frontline: All laptops need to be upgraded to models that support Windows 11, as Microsoft will end support and updates for Windows 10 in October 2025. Therefore, it is not advisable to purchase any laptop that cannot run Windows 11. That’s why I am already anticipating for more powerful laptops..

This was my day today: We were hit again today — three direct strikes in the village, and 14 more in the surrounding area. I had to act as an ambulance for an injured elderly man.
No emergency services come out here anymore… it’s unreal.
When the shells land, we drive around, check for wounded, and evacuate whoever we can.
There are no volunteers left who come this far out. That means tonight, an elderly woman has to sleep in a house with no windows… while her husband is lying on the operating table. Please understand we are not living in a city, the closest city is a two hour or more drive.
By banning me based on doubts, you’ve opened the door to people sending me life-threatening messages. Meanwhile, I know my high-end IT equipment is urgently needed right now.
And all this… because of a wrongly listed price for tourniquets, plus a false accusation that I stole someone else’s thank-you videos — which I absolutely did not do.

First things first: we cannot approve the comment Anastasia tried to leave because she included her phone number in it. That's forbidden by Reddit TOS.
We know that you are doing good work. That was never the problem.
The issue is your behavior and methods. As you can see by the responses to your ban, you don't have the full trust of this community anyore. Many, many users see your posts and feel that you're untrustworthy. The post about $50 tourniquets, for example: by now, plenty of people know what good tourniquets actually cost, and that it's nowhere near $50. You provided no proof anywhere that you're paying $50 for them. Instead, you talked about how expensive they are, and dropped the price you're claming to €37.50.
In your post about the laptops, you gave inconsistent numbers for costs. You said you wanted to raise a certain amount for two, but the link you provided didn't match the number you gave. That does not make you look trustworthy or knowledgeable.
You get rude and aggressive with people who question you, even when their questions are valid.
You also tend to demean people who aren't actually at the zero line, acting as if all the volunteers in the back are somehow beneath you because they aren't actually there. Do you understand that the war effort needs the people in the back, too?
We hate to have to stop you from fundraising in here, Ed. We really do. But your behavior in here caused you to lose the community's trust before we banned you. Again: look at the responses to your ban.
We absolutely cannot have you misleading donors, being rude about valid questions, or citing questionable numbers without proof. If we allow one person to get away with that, it casts doubt on everyone else who relies on this community for fundraising. It hurts everyone. Do you see?
You aren't the first person doing good work whom we've had to ban because of their behavior. We absolutely hate doing it, but we had to for the protection of everyone else who also needs this community.

Just a reaction from r/Mr_engineering Hey folks,
Normally I wouldn't weigh in on stuff like this but u/Pitmaster4Ukraine reached out to me and asked for me to advocate on his behalf.
I'm an IT specialist and tried to help bring down the cost of a server that he was fundraising for several weeks ago. He disclosed to me in confidence why he needed that particular server part configuration and what it was for. I went through my entire list of second-hand IT suppliers and wasn't able to reach a price -- even without shipping -- than his fundraising target. While I may have made some different selections in configuring it, it wouldn't have saved much and would result in my second guessing someone with much better knowledge of the immediate subject matter.
While I am mindful that there are plenty of grifters and conmen taking advantage of this conflict to enrich themselves, I do not have any reason to believe that Ed is one of them. By all accounts, he's a selfless volunteer; he doesn't need to be there; he doesn't need to risk getting hit by a stray artillery shell or an opportunistic drone. He could leave at any time yet chooses to not do so.
The difficulty of getting donated and purchased materials to the vicinity of the frontline is well established. This same refrain has been repeated by many volunteers and reporters. I think that those involved in procuring, transporting, and using these things on the front line need to be given some deference.
If Ed wishes to fundraise for new laptops rather than purchase used ones that are several years old then it is his perogative as a volunteer to do so. A prudent IT administrator on a tight corporate budget may make different choices than someone who has to drive things through drone infested minefields where it rains artillery.
Absent concrete evidence of grift I cannot say that I agree with this decision and would ask that you reconsider.
We know who the real enemy is, let's keep it that way.

You opened this discussion by accusing me of inflating the price of tourniquets. The price I mentioned—€50—was based on what military medics at the Zero Line actually pay in the field. Keep in mind: the nearest major city is over two hours away. Prices here, for everything from food to gear, are 2–3 times higher than in central logistics hubs. That’s the reality on the ground.
We later adjusted the public fundraising price to €37.50 after open discussion, and that is also the price we paid. But the core issue in that post wasn’t the price—it was the flood of fake, unapproved, and imitation tourniquets we keep receiving, even from so-called “official” foundations, including some that have posted in your group. I’ve received faulty tourniquets from at least three Dutch organizations and several international ones. Many of them seem to think “anything is better than nothing.” On the front line, that kind of thinking costs lives.
You then claimed that my thank-you video used other people’s content. That’s a false accusation. Every photo and video in that post came from people I personally worked with. Anastasia, who you refused to hear out, tried to clarify this—those kids in the photos received direct aid funded by us. She and her husband rely on the money I send them to do this work. This accusation damaged my name without basis.
Regarding the laptops: as I’ve explained several times, rugged, field-ready laptops cost anywhere between €1,250 and €3,500. I specifically requested funds for the lower end of that range—€1,250 per unit. That is not misleading. These laptops must support Windows 11 Pro, because Windows 10 will be unsupported by Microsoft from October 2025. Of course I look for used models, but they must be reliable, durable, and up-to-date. Otherwise, they’re useless in the field.
You referred to another verified user—r/tatalitlebit—who publicly undermined my post. She collects old secondhand laptops, which may be useful for some purposes, but I can tell you plainly: 90% of that hardware is not usable for actual frontline work. She publicly discredited my post without understanding what’s actually needed at Zero, and you allowed that narrative to take over—without asking me for a proper reply.
I work only with frontline teams. I know what’s needed, and I do everything I can to source gear at the best possible prices. For reference: • 65” and 75” 4K active touchscreens: €125 each • Rugged laptops: €1,250 to €3,500 • Servers: €4,350, which was confirmed as the best offer by r/Mr_engineering • 3D printers: sourced below market value via family contacts in the industry
These are real savings, achieved through real work—not misleading figures.
You’ve now painted me publicly as “untrustworthy,” before even giving me a chance to respond properly. That alone explains the tone of the reactions you referenced. If you tell people I can’t be trusted, of course they’ll react accordingly. The question is: how do you plan to take responsibility for the false claims made about me?

I just saw a new post where you admit that you don’t consider my thank-you video post as stolen content. For the record: I didn’t receive a laptop from them. That humanitarian organization didn’t even exist yet. I donated a laptop to Anastasia — personally — and all my sponsors’ money helped her set up that organization. That included the laptop, a weekly donation of at least €250, car repair costs, and a full Signal contact list. That foundation literally depends on having a basic income.
What also really bothers me is that no moderator ever contacted me directly about this whole situation. And then there’s r/tatalitlebit — a “verified” user — commenting publicly under my fundraiser that my price for a used rugged laptop was “way too high.” I told her: €1,250 is low for a used rugged laptop. Average is €1,250, high-end goes up to €3,500. Her comment was totally unprofessional and should never have been under my post.
I also explained the entire tourniquet situation in detail. The whole thing is just sad. Two out of the three reasons for banning me have already been proven false — and yet I’m still banned. Come on, really?

I hope you are safe and well. I've seen you before on Reddit and always thought your gift of a great BBQ for the soldiers as an act of kindness and generosity.
My husband is frontline infantry somewhere in the east. I have learned directly from him that the men in his unit are in desperate need of food, which isn't reaching them for a variety of reasons you may well be familiar with. I understand that men are malnourished and some may be perishing due to the lack of food and poor diet.
It would be awesome if these soldiers could be the recipients of your generosity, hospitality, and a great meal! Would you be so kind as to contact me if this is something you might be able to do for these soldiers?

The main thing is that you have to be able to read write and speak Ukraine and understand the Soersjek (mix Ukraine/ Russian)

Military experience is not needed, main thing will be that you have to be able to apply for goods on paper and handle all after it

Hello!
I am interested in the position you posted recently in the volunteer subreddit. I have experience as an IT manager that included coordinating procurement, working with contractors, and of course paperwork. What would be the best way to apply? I am in Ukraine already, but I am a foreigner if that is an issue. Also, is Ukranian fluency required? I am at an A1 or A2 level but learning more every day.

Hello, I am a verified user, for some reason i can’t post anymore links in my posts sinds a week or two. Other users can do so, what am i doing wrong. Now I only can share links in my comments, what let other potential sponsors don’t donate. How can we or I solve this ? Also it would be nice to have my username in the verified list. Thank you all for making a lot possible. It’s hard in southwest Donetsk at the moment, the Russians are only at 15 kilometers shelling our neighbor village. So we need loads of help. The PayPal links but all links doesn’t seem to work in my posts I just did a test post, and the link was in the post for a few seconds, but when the auto moderator reacted the link was no longer clickable .
